Dominic Derting - Former Student
"Mrs. Erickson is the most dedicated teacher about government I have been taught by. She is the reason I participated in youth in government. She has always encouraged students to participate in government and be passionate about the laws that affect them. I am confident to say there is no other person I would want to be on the school board. She will always have the best interests of education and the students in her actions."

Tanya Fair - 5th Grade Teacher
"There are three words that I would use to talk about her. Experience: Her experience in the classroom for the past 30+ years gives her a strong knowledge base for what the day-to-day reality is in the classroom. She knows firsthand what students need. Perspective: Her perspective of what it’s like for not only teachers, but more importantly students and what both need to make a strong school and district. Her perspective gives her a great foundation to make decisions that support students, teachers, and the entire school community as a whole. Dedication: Her dedication to the well-being of her students…the amount of hours she dedicated to her profession in the evenings, on the weekends, and most of her summers to be the best teacher she could possibly be. She constantly strived to increase her knowledge and come up with engaging, interesting, and meaningful ways to teach her students."

Marie Moore - Former Student and Current Teacher
"Mrs. Erickson puts her heart and soul into her work; her students and community reap the benefits of that passion. Mrs. Erickson is the reason I am a teacher today. She was the type of teacher I wanted to be, and she is the candidate I would want to represent me as an educator. The district is a better place because she is in it."

"Looking back at my time as a student in District 70, I always reflect on the countless teachers I had the privilege of sitting in their classrooms or joining on school-sponsored trips and activities. Mrs. Erickson always makes that list.

As a Columbia University graduate, I can confidently say I would not be where I am today without the guidance, support, and leadership of Mrs. Erickson. She was my AP Government teacher, the leader of our Mock Trial team, and the driving force behind our Youth in Government program, but she was so much more than just a teacher. She was a mentor, an advocate, and a role model who went above and beyond to empower her students to engage with the political process and believe in their own potential.

Mrs. Erickson didn’t just teach government — she lived it. She showed us firsthand what it means to lead with integrity, to listen deeply, and to turn ideas into action. Year after year, she organized nonpartisan candidate forums in Pueblo West so that community members could hear directly from candidates running for local office. She was never paid for this; she did it because she believed in modeling civic responsibility and making democracy accessible to everyone. She taught us that informed voters build stronger communities.

She has always been someone who knows how to listen, take feedback, understand policy, and work within systems to get things done. That’s exactly the kind of leadership our school board needs. Families and students can’t benefit from resources they don’t know exist, and Mrs. Erickson not only knows where those resources are, she knows how to connect people to them. Her deep knowledge of education, government, and the Pueblo community makes her uniquely qualified to help bridge those gaps.

As a longtime teacher, a parent in the district, and a leader in countless student-centered programs, Mrs. Erickson brings every perspective to the table. She has taken students across the country on educational trips, opened doors to life-changing experiences, and never stopped fighting to make sure every student had a seat at the table.

Mrs. Erickson doesn’t just talk about leadership. She embodies it. And I have no doubt she will continue to serve this community with the same energy, compassion, and dedication that she’s shown for decades. Pueblo would be lucky to have her voice on the school board.”
